What Is HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge?

HelloSky Lounge Area

HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge is the result of the collaboration between Airporti di Roma (ADR) and GIS, a leading management company for VIP airline lounges. The facility is designed to give travelers a place to relax or work in between flights. The HelloSky website describes its mission statement this way:

  • Meet and greet” services for those who are looking for the ultimate in service, comfort and discretion

Where is HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge Located?

The HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge is located on the upper floor of Fiumicino Airport. When arriving at the airport, simply take the escalators or elevators to the top floor – the same floor where you’d find the train to downtown Rome. Proceed through the dining and shopping area, and turn left into the entrances for Terminals 1, 2 and 3. You’ll go through a covered overpass and on two separate moving walkways. The facility is located approximately 100 meters (330 feet) from the entrance to the covered overpass.

Why Did We Choose HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge?

The bathroom contained the amenities we could need to freshen up

We had booked an 11-day Mediterranean cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines that started and ended in Rome. We weren’t able to book a return flight to Chicago on the same day as the cruise arrived so we needed an overnight stay somewhere. To make things more complicated, our return flight was through Munich and the Rome to Munich flight left at 6AM.

This meant that staying at or near the airport was a primary consideration for us. Hotels.com directed us toward the HelloSky facility, and the reviews were great. A huge bonus for us was that the facility was only a 5-10 minute walk to our gate, which gave us more precious sleeping time the morning of our flight.

The room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for an overnight stay. Our room had a coffee maker and a small refrigerator with complimentary bottled water. The bed was comfortable and cozy, and the bathroom was spacious. For travelers on the go, HelloSky provides an amenities pack with toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving razor, comb, etc. – everything you’d need to freshen up after a long flight.

Buffet and Meal Service at HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounge

HelloSky buffet

For a modest fee, HelloSky provides an all-day buffet for hungry travelers. It includes cold cereals, yogurts, bread and pastries, etc. The buffet also includes cold meats and proteins (cheese, eggs, etc.). There are well-stocked refrigerators with soft drinks of all kinds. My personal favorite amenity on the buffet was the coffee machine. I love good coffee, and I was able to get a couple of great espressos to help me wake up the morning we left!

HelloSky also offers meal service for lunch and dinner. In typical Italian fashion the meal service offers a pasta course, a secundo (main course consisting of chicken, fish, etc.) and desserts. The prices are reasonable and compare well to the other restaurants at the airport. When you add in the convenience factor of not needing to leave the facility, the onsite meals are well worth it.

Are There More HelloSky Air Rooms & Lounges In the Future?

Right now, the only HelloSky facility is at Rome’s Fiumicino airport. However, according to their website HelloSky plans to expand into other markets in the future. They’ll have stiff competition from airline lounges when it comes to accommodating travelers with a layover of only a few hours. That said, for international travelers who want to relax more and clean up, or who need a bed to sleep in for a few hours or a night…HelloSky is an unbeatable solution.
